Goats and Veg Garden

I made an effort to sow seeds in pots, trays, and directly in the garden last week. I had aimed to have it all sown by last weekend. But the routine removal, by the vet, of Phoenix’s scur horn regrowth took an unfortunate turn of events, and Phoenix became quite ill, which meant full-on nursing him and a miserable and worrying weekend for Gordon and me. We had no choice but to contemplate and begin the arrangements we would need if he died or was suffering more.
So far, Phoenix has survived though the swelling of the front third of his body still makes it hard for him to get around, and all food and water have to be offered high as he cannot lower his head.
Hence I am still planting seeds in the garden – but the good news is that some I planted last week have already germinated – which is encouraging as I had been despondent when the earlier sowings simply had not appeared. ๐
Fingers crossed, when I post next, Phoenix will be back to normal, and I will have beans to plant out ๐
