Orchard Roundup Nov 2020

Apples

Two winter-lorn Allington Pippins. None of the apples fruited that well and those that tried to were done-over by the deer. No apples stored or used in whole orchard this year 🙁

Pears

All the pear trees had a bumper crop they seem to like 27 to the South.

Plums

It was the Year of Wasps some Victorias and some Opal freezered but way too many wasps to be happy out there.

Other

The culled Merry Weather Damson tried to grow and the deer tried to stop it.

It has not been the best year for the orchard the apples got caught by a late chill wind and frost and as we still haven’t sorted better storage I had to leave the stuff that fell – and there wasn’t much of that anyway due to deer and the geese ate what did fall…

Prep room now top of agenda for next year
